Iridium oxide

Aliases: iridium oxide, iridium dioxide
Cas No: 12030-49-8
Molecular formula: IrO2
Molecular weight: 224.22

Application scope:

An important chemical catalyst, used in industrial electrolysis of the anode electrode.

Iridium oxide, iridium content: Ir 85.0%, CAS no. : 12030-49-8, molecular formula IrO2, molecular weight: 224.22; Brown quadrangular crystal, stable at room temperature and pressure. Avoid light, open flame and high temperature. Insoluble in water and alkali, insoluble in nitric acid and sulfuric acid, soluble in hydrochloric acid and hydrobromic acid to form [IrCl6]2- and [IrBr6]2-, respectively. Iridium oxide is a chemical substance. Is iridium oxide, whose lattice is rutile structure, in which there is iridium with six coordination and oxygen with three coordination. Iridium dioxide and other oxides of rare metals can be used as anodes in industrial electrolysis and as microelectrodes in electrophysiological studies. Room temperature dry sealed storage. Synthesis method: iridium powder is heated in air or oxygen to obtain iridium dioxide. The resulting blue precipitate is dried in a vacuum into a blue powder, which is equivalent to Ir(OH)4 or IrO2.2H2O, the powder is heated to 350 ℃ in nitrogen, making its IrO2completely dehydrated produce black.
